A good red light therapy panel is chosen on 7 criteria: real wavelengths (630/660 and 810/850 nm), irradiance measured at the distance of use, covered surface, no flicker, low EMF, timer and local warranty. The number of LEDs, the main argument in most ads, is the least relevant.
1. Wavelengths
Look for 630 or 660 nm (red, for the skin) and 810 or 850 nm (near infrared, for muscles and joints), ideally together and switchable. Other wavelengths can be a bonus, but without these two windows the panel does not deliver photobiomodulation.
2. Irradiance at the real distance
Irradiance (mW/cm²) tells you how much energy reaches the skin. Manufacturers often declare it at 0 cm, where it is 3-4 times higher than at 15 cm, the real distance of use. For a body panel, look for over 60-100 mW/cm² at 15 cm. NeuroGenesis DNA panels are specified at the distance of use.
3. Covered surface
A 34 cm panel (CORE 300) treats one area: face, knee, shoulder. A 90 cm panel (B1500 PRO, 1000X) covers the torso. A 180 cm panel (PRO 2250X, B5040 PRO) covers the whole body in one session. Calculate based on how much time you have each day: full body means 10-15 minutes per side and you are done.
4. No flicker
The invisible flickering of LEDs tires the eyes and the nervous system. A good panel has a flicker-free driver. The simple test: film the panel with your phone in slow motion; if stripes appear, it flickers.
5. Low EMF
The electromagnetic field should be close to zero at the distance of use. Serious manufacturers publish their measurements.
6. Timer, stand, app
The timer keeps the dose constant, the stand (vertical and horizontal stand) lets you lie down, and the app, on the X and ULTRA models, controls the wavelengths and pulsing.
7. Warranty and service in Romania
A panel is a 5-10 year investment. NeuroGenesis DNA offers a 2-year warranty, 14-day returns, WhatsApp support and spare parts in Romania. With a product ordered from outside the EU, service means international shipping and weeks of waiting.

Frequently asked questions
How many LEDs should a good panel have?
The number of LEDs matters less than the real irradiance at the distance of use and the covered surface. A panel with 300 quality LEDs beats one with 600 weak LEDs.
What irradiance is enough?
Over 60-100 mW/cm² at 15 cm for a body panel. Below this value, sessions have to be extended considerably.
Is a panel with an app worth it?
Yes, if you want to switch wavelengths, set the timer and track your sessions. For a simple start, a panel with physical buttons is enough.
